The falsified prescriptions were used to procure medications such as Ozempic, Rybelsus, Victoza, and Trulicity from 140 pharmacies across Bucharest. These medications, intended for diabetes management, were distributed to individuals seeking weight loss solutions without medical supervision, posing significant health risks.
The Role of Medical Professionals
The investigation revealed that the nurse, between February 2023 and January 2024, falsified 701 prescriptions using digital signatures of doctors, who were complicit in the scheme. The clinic's de facto administrator, charged with complicity in computer fraud, allegedly facilitated the illegal activities by providing a digital signature for the falsified prescriptions.
Pharmacists and Accomplices
Eight pharmacists have been implicated for their role in supporting the falsified prescription scheme. They allegedly collaborated with the nurse, reinforcing her confidence in executing numerous falsifications. The pharmacists and their close associates reportedly manipulated pharmacy systems to introduce erroneous data, causing financial harm to the National Health Insurance House (CNAS).
