Goodbye, secret salaries! Companies will be forced to display the salaries offered when hiring.

In a short time, we will say goodbye to salary secrecy. Employers will be required to display the salary they offer in job advertisements so that Romanians know what they are choosing. And specialists say that companies that are transparent are more successful in recruitment.

Salaries will be presented by companies from the start.

On the largest recruitment platform in Romania, over 40% of job advertisements have the salary displayed. And these are the jobs that are filled first. Candidates are happy because they know from the beginning how much they will earn.

According to a new European directive, by 2026 the display of salaries will be mandatory for all companies.

Although we are already talking about a European directive, not all employees are thrilled with the rule. Some believe that internal conflicts and frustrations will arise, in a situation where a newly hired employee would earn more than an old one.

"The areas with the highest level of salary transparency are retail, the service sector, construction, the automotive sector, and even tourism and HoReCa. And what we observe is that, especially for entry-level positions or blue-collar jobs, that's where the highest level of transparency is," said Ana Călugăru, head of communications.

The European Union has established that by mid-2026, salary scales will be visible. Moreover, employees will be able to request information about their colleagues' salaries.
