Israeli Minister of Agriculture Avi Dichter signed the memorandum of understanding on Sunday in Bucharest. The agreement outlines the provision of wheat to Israel in emergency situations, diversifying the country's grain import sources.

In exchange for the wheat supply, Israel will share its advanced agricultural technologies and expertise with Romania.This knowledge exchange is expected to boost Romania's agricultural productivity and sustainability.

"In the current period of global uncertainty and severe geopolitical conflicts in our region, this agreement, which is the result of common interests, will provide Israel with an additional import channel, especially in emergencies," stated Minister Dichter.
Building on Previous Agreements
The agreement with Romania follows similar deals signed with Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Morocco. These partnerships are part of Israel's strategy to diversify its wheat supply sources in the wake of the global grain crisis triggered by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Strengthening Agricultural Ties
During his visit to Bucharest, Minister Dichter met with his Romanian counterpart, Florin Barbu, as well as with Jewish community leader Silviu Vexler and representatives of the Romania-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These meetings underscored the commitment to strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation.
