Measles Outbreak Continues to Spread in Romania, Warns Health Minister

Romania's Health Minister, Alexandru Rafila, has warned that the ongoing measles outbreak in the country is still evolving.

He noted that the outbreak is affecting the entire European Union, but "probably more so in Romania than in other countries," urging vaccination for unvaccinated children and adults.

Measles Cases Concentrated in Certain Counties

"The measles outbreak is still evolving in Romania. There are a few counties that are more affected. In general, outbreaks occur where there are communities with low vaccination coverage. Romania, like the rest of the European Union, is affected by the outbreak – but probably more so in Romania than in other countries," Rafila stated in response to a question, according to News.ro and Digi24.

Vaccination Urged to Curb Outbreak

Rafila emphasized the importance of vaccination in controlling the measles outbreak. He called on parents to ensure their children are vaccinated according to the national immunization schedule. Adults who are unvaccinated or unsure of their vaccination status should also seek vaccination.
