Over €5.5 Million Reallocated to Support Coupled Payments in the Vegetable Sector

The Romanian Ministry of Agriculture has approved an order modifying the previous provisions regarding the approval of the unit amount of payments financed from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA). This modification involves the reallocation of a sum exceeding €5.5 million. The reallocated funds are specifically designated to support coupled payments in the vegetable sector.

In a move to enhance support for the vegetable sector, the Romanian Ministry of Agriculture has reallocated over €5.5 million from unused funds. This reallocation aims to provide coupled payments to farmers, ensuring a more equitable distribution of resources.

Addressing Funding Gaps and Ensuring Equitable Distribution

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the remaining available amount of €5,588,556 will be allocated to interventions aimed at coupled plant support. This reallocation aims to address any funding gaps and ensure a more equitable distribution of resources within the vegetable sector.

Prioritizing Livestock and Sheep and Goat Farming

In addition to the reallocation for vegetable support, the Ministry has also prioritized livestock and sheep and goat farming. The maximum amount has been allocated to ecoschemes in the livestock sector. Furthermore, approximately one million euros of remaining funds have been redistributed to coupled income support for sheep and goats. This redistributed funding aims to ensure that sheep and goat farmers receive an income closer to the unit income.

Specific Intervention Details

Under the PD-20 Coupled Income Support intervention for forage plant seeds, a unit income of €260 has been established, as reported by Agerpres. This unit income will serve as a benchmark for determining coupled payments to eligible farmers.

Supporting Romanian Agriculture and Ensuring Fair Distribution

The reallocation of funds and the prioritization of specific sectors demonstrate the Romanian Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to supporting various branches of Romanian agriculture. By ensuring a fair distribution of resources and providing targeted support, the Ministry aims to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of the agricultural sector as a whole.
