In an effort to alleviate the impact of the Russia-Ukraine crisis on the agricultural sector, Romania's Agency for Payments and Intervention for Agriculture (APIA) has disbursed over 322 million lei to support pig and poultry farmers. This financial assistance aims to help these producers maintain their operations and ensure a stable supply of food.
Targeted Support for Affected Sectors

Recognizing the challenges faced by these producers, the Romanian government allocated funds to provide direct aid and help them navigate the current difficulties.
Swift Disbursement to Beneficiaries
APIA has moved swiftly to distribute the allocated funds, ensuring that eligible farmers receive the necessary support as soon as possible. The payments were made on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, and are expected to reach beneficiaries' bank accounts within the next two days.

Source of Funding
The financial support for pig and poultry farmers is being provided from the state budget, specifically from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR). This allocation demonstrates the government's commitment to safeguarding the agricultural sector and ensuring the well-being of farmers during this challenging period.
Ongoing Support and Monitoring
APIA remains committed to providing ongoing support to farmers affected by the crisis. The agency will continue to monitor the situation closely and take necessary measures to mitigate the impact of the crisis on the Romanian agricultural sector.
Ensuring Food Security and Sector Resilience
By providing timely and targeted financial assistance, the Romanian government is playing a crucial role in ensuring food security and bolstering the resilience of the pig and poultry farming sectors. This support will enable farmers to maintain their production capacity and contribute to a stable supply of food for the Romanian population.
