Romania's Return Guarantee System, implemented nearly a year ago, has surpassed all expectations by collecting over one billion containers in just eight months. Environment Minister Mircea Fechet recently highlighted this remarkable achievement, demonstrating the system's success and the public's enthusiastic participation.
Exceeding Initial Expectations
Initially, the expectations for the Return Guarantee System were modest, even among the authorities. However, the situation has dramatically improved over time. According to Minister Fechet, the system has broken the "psychological barrier" by collecting more than one billion containers, including PET bottles, glass bottles, and aluminum cans.
Minister Fechet's Statement
"In less than eight months since its launch, the Return Guarantee System has exceeded the psychological barrier, reaching one billion collected containers. This includes PET bottles, glass, and aluminum cans. The majority are PET bottles, which, if lined up, could circle the Earth five times. Our target for this year is 3.2 billion containers, and I am optimistic because the response from Romanians has been astonishing. I am grateful and proud of everyone's determination and effort. Together, we are making a real difference. Our journey towards a greener future continues with the support and cooperation of every citizen," stated Minister Mircea Fechet, quoted by Fanatik.ro.
