Action star Sylvester Stallone is parting ways with some of his prized possessions: a collection of 11 watches going up for auction at Sotheby's in New York on June 5th.
Stallone's passion for watches began on the set of "Rocky," his breakout film. There, he saw Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band sporting a gold watch that Stallone described as "the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen." This sparked a lifelong love of timepieces.
The crown jewel of the auction is a rare Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, estimated to fetch a staggering $5 million. Only seven of these incredibly intricate watches were ever produced, making it the most complex wristwatch ever created by the esteemed Swiss watchmaker. Sotheby's aptly calls it the "holy grail" for watch collectors, with its development, production, and assembly taking a remarkable 100,000 hours.
The auction also features watches Stallone wore in some of his most iconic films. Fans can own a piece of movie history alongside these luxurious timepieces.
